Contemplating my next computer purchase. Share your thoughts/opinions?

I’m currently watching gameplay of Star Wars: The Old Republic because I’ve been reconsidering buying another Mac desktop, and instead going for a PC laptop. Now, even though I’ve had no issues until recently with my Mac (bought it early-2007), and even though those issues are more related to it being out of date rather than screwing up (well, it has been just a tad slower but still impressively running for a 5-year old computer), I do wonder if i should go with a PC [laptop] because I won’t need to worry about it being out-of-date after half a year. Nope — I haven’t bought any software/etc. updates for my Mac, because frankly, they’re too expensive. The only reason I could even buy a Mac desktop was because of the pay I was given when I was let go from my job, plus I was able to get unemployment immediately, too.

With that said, do any of you PC owners recommend a certain brand? More specifically a link to the best of the best would be great. Keep in mind, I would like to play games on it so the graphic card and all of those requirements would be necessary; I won’t be buying games often, though. Actually, I’ll probably only own 3-4 at most over the course of 2 years; Sims, TOR, and the like. We’ll see. And, NGL, I’d love to be able to hook up my computer to my consoles and record gameplay videos. Most importantly, though, I want this laptop to last as long as one can. A couple years would be nice because hopefully I’ll have a better job by then and more than enough money saved up to comfortably buy a new one if need be.

So, let’s see that verdict….

The latest Mac desktop OR a handy dandy PC laptop?
