Nathan Lane and the Broadway Company of the 1996 revival of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum perform “Comedy Tonight.”
It’s only when seeing this performed with all the shtick — and I believe this production recreated Jerome Robbins’ original choreography for this number — does the story of how the right opening number transformed the show into a hit make sense.
