My 14 year old niece listens to AWFUL rap music. I’m trying to think of good alternatives (talented rappers and similar sounding music) that she may enjoy. Anyone care to help me out?

I’m not as familiar as I used to be in the genre; I already recommended a few artists but I know I’m forgetting some others and I also wonder if there’s anyone new that I don’t know about.

The stuff she listens to is also incredibly offensive and I cannot deal with it when she plays it in the car or when she’s on her laptop. She reacted kind of ~meh to the likes of Frank Ocean and Aaliyah, which surprised me quite a bit. (She did enjoy Mary J. Blige’s “No More Drama”, though!) So is there anything more modern that has the same groove as the popular tracks out there today, but is… you know… good?

Oh man oh man…..

There is a video on YouTube of an old ‘NSync concert. And when I say old, I mean OLD. I am watching the guys 5+ minutes into a choreography [only] section and currently Missy Elliot’s “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” is their musical accompaniment.

I cannot get past “Swim Good” once I get to it on Frank Ocean’s album.
