“You don’t seek the truth or save the world.  Deadlight is about Randall’s feelings and his desires, his problems. Everything that we take for granted now, like crossing the street, in Deadlight is a true challenge.”

 - Raul Rubio, CEO and creative director of Tequila Works, speaking to Joystiq.

I’m hard pressed to name any side-scrolling survival horror games.  Probably because they don’t exist, but that’s precisely what makes Deadlight so intriguing.  In the Joystiq article, Rubio name drops literary influences including a near-and-dear classic of mine, Cell by Stephen King.

It’d be naive to argue that a grand scope couldn’t mesh within the confines of a side-scroller after having the sensational titles Braid and Limbo hit digital distribution not too long ago.  While our big budget blockblusters continue to shirk imagination for the sake of sales, it’s downright pleasing to see the little guys pick up the slack on the downloadable front.

I now own a Playstation 3

Those of you who also own a PS3 and are gamers… what games are absolute must-haves??

To give you an idea of what I enjoy playing the most…

Xbox 360 favorites:
Mass Effect (all 3)
Fable 3
Red Dead Redemption
Dragon Age II (got stuck in Origins during the Fade challenge)
Assassin’s Creed (2 and Brotherhood mainly)
Batman: Arkham City (will purchase AA soon)
Gears of War (still working on the first - challenging but I enjoy it)
Call of Duty (up to MW 2, Black Ops proved too difficult)

I’m being specific because I don’t want to waste my money one way or another; on something I won’t enjoy/can’t handle.

Initially, I picked up Uncharted 2 and Lost: Via Domus (yes, I’m well aware of its crappiness, but I’m a huge Lost fan that just wants to escape the smoke monster and wander around the hatch) but then the guy told me about the buy 2 get 1 free deal, so I grabbed Killzone 3 and God of War III — I couldn’t decide which one I wanted so the guy was awesome and put Lost with my PS3 purchase so that I could keep both [along with Uncharted] and therefore get a killer deal as they were all around $20. (Lost was only $6. That’s the only reason I got it. It’s still $20 used on Xbox.)

I was tempted to get Heavy Rain but I kept hearing how your gameplay is very controlled. Like, it’s a lot of just pressing what they tell you, so I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy it. Not $20+ worth anyway, because I felt the same about L.A. Noire.

So, yes, I’d love some recs!! And let me know if I may not enjoy the purchases I made today — only have a week to get my money back.
